Personal

The Godwin’s deployed to Mexico in July 2008 to serve as Foursquare missionaries in Rosarito, Mexico.

Ministry

The Godwin’s planted an English-speaking congregation to serve the many American and Canadian expats who live in that region. A decade later, that congregation has prospered. Most who attend are not expats anymore, but deported families—Mexican-born men and women who, after growing up in the U. S., were shipped back across the southern border.

Separated from family and friends left behind in the States, deported people struggle to make a new life in a country where they are unwanted and alone. Since many arrive in Mexico without documentation, they are unable to earn any income. Many end up living on the streets. They are quite often injured, sick, or on drugs. Nearly a thousand are deported to Mexico every day; about half to Tijuana.

Under the Godwin’s leadership, Hope Chapel Rosarito is becoming a multi-faceted ministry that works to meet the spiritual and physical needs of the surrounding community. The Godwin’s also lead multiple outreaches annually to minister in the nearby colonia of Vista Marina, where they pioneered another (Spanish-speaking) congregation in 2009.
